Skills Camps Overview

For Boys & Girls Ages 5 - 14

 

Sessions will focus on the fundamentals of football and an intro to flag football. We will emphasize passing, catching, ball carrying, route running, man to man and zones coverages, and conclude each session with flag football 7-on-7 scrimmage or one-on-ones (WR vs DB, RB vs LB, O-Line vs D-Line).

 

All skills sessions will be two hours.

 

Our goal is to provide a safe, fun environment where kids can improve their knowledge of the game while competing to the best of their abilities.

  • Ages 5 - 9:
    • Sundays 9:00 am - 11:00 am
  • Ages 10 - 14:
    • Sundays 11:30 pm - 1:30 pm

 

Format

  • Athletes will be grouped by age.
  • Clinics will consist of 50 to 75 players.
  • Grades 3rd - 6th:
    • Clinics will focus on all positions. Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers, Linebackers and Defensive Backs.
  • Grades 7th - HS:
    • Clinics will be position specific for Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers, Linebackers and Defensive Backs.
    • Athletes will be paired up with their opposite positions groups (wide receivers vs defensive backs, running backs vs linebackers, etc.)

 

Coaches

  • Elijah Qualls: Super Bowl LII Champion, 1st team All PAC-12. Elijah played for coach Herzog at Casa Grande in 2011 and 2012. Elijah will coach the RB's, LB's and Pass Rushers.
  • Cameron Eisenhauer: the Head Strength and Conditioning coach and WR coach at St. Vincent de Paul. Cameron will be working with the WR's.
  • Bruce Rhode: Bruce has been a local player and coach for over 20 years. He graduated from Analy High School in 1996 as a top student athlete excelling in football, basketball and baseball. He earned a football scholarship to St. Mary's College and was a starter at wide receiver for the Gaels. After graduating in 2000, he relocated back to Sonoma County and has been coaching ever since. Bruce coached Varsity Football for Casa Grande High School from 2001-2011 helping them secure 7 league titles including 2 north coast section championship appearances.
  • Josh Inong: Josh played high school rugby & football at Elsie Allen high school. He was a high school rugby All-American. Then played at the SRJC where he won a football championship in 2006 with the Bear-Cubs. He moved to San Diego and won a Rugby National Championship with OMBAC rugby. From 2011-2018, Josh played professional rugby with the Philippines National Rugby Team. In 2016 he also signed a professional contract with the Sacramento Express. Currently, Josh is the head coach of 8U Redwood Pal football team and strength & conditioning coach at SRHS.
  • Gustavo Manzanares: Gustavo is beginning his 6th year as the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Associate Athletic Director and Defensive Coordinator for the varsity football team. The Wildcats most recently eared a share of the 2019 West Catholic Athletic League Championship. Coach Manzanares graduated from St. Ignatius in 2005 and played defensive back for City College of San Francisco where he was a member of the 2007 National Championship team. Following his career at City College, Manzanares completed his playing career at San Jose State, where he received his bachelor's degree in Business Management.
  • Makana Garrigan: Makana is a former Gaucho standout and earned All State, Aiga Polynesian All American, All Metro Bay Area, and Redwood Empire Player of the Year during his years at Casa Grande. Originally recruited by the University of Nevada, Garrigan suffered from an ongoing injury and was forced to medically retire. While at Nevada, he began his coaching career as a Student Assistant working with the Wolf Pack's secondary and linebacker units from 2012 - 2014. After graduating, Garrigan remained on staff as a Graduate Assistant for the 2015 season before joining the University of Hawai'i staff as Graduate Assistant from 2016 - 2017, and one more season as a Defensive Quality Control Coach in 2018, working with both linebackers and secondary. In 2019, Garrigan joined the University of Maine staff, coaching running backs for 2 seasons and later moved back to the Black Bears to coach cornerbacks for the 2021 season.
  • Trent Herzog: Head coach at St. Vincent High School
  • Mathew Lemmon: Head coach at Tamalpais high School
  • James Trey Taylor: DB coach and Defensive passing game coordinator at St. Vincent de Paul. Trey will be working with the DB's.

We offer clinics for the following positions:

OL

Offensive Lineman

Footwork, run and pass blocking techniques, and pass protection concepts and terminology, hand and head placement, stance, leverage, pulling/releasing, finish, 1on1s film and classroom study.

DL

Defensive Lineman

Footwork, alignment, stance, assignment, hands placement, shedding blocks, power rush, speed rush, get off, terminology, 1on1s, film and classroom study.

QB

Quarterback

Footwork, throwing machanics, coverages, route concepts, route recognition, protection, classroom and film study.

RB

Running Back

Footwork, ball security, alignment, assignment, run blocking schemes, reading the LOS, pass blocking terminology/assignment, agility, expolsivness, elusiveness, route concepts, pass blocking, film and classroom study.

WR

Wide Receiver

Footwork, ball security, route concepts and recognition, route running, ball catching techniques, alignment, man to man, zone and press man releases, film and classroom study

LB

Line Backer

Footwork, alignment, assignment, defensive responsibilities, reads and keys, man and zone concepts, tackling techniques, pursuit angles, gap responsibility, blitz and pass rush techniques, film and classroom study.

DB

Defensive Back

Footwork, alignment, assignment, back peddling techniques, press man, man and zones responsibility, terminology, coverage concepts, breaking on the ball, locating the ball, hand placement, film and classroom study.

Refund Policy:

  • Due to the unique circumstances, refund requests will NOT be accommodated.
  • Should we enter a shelter in place limiting the use of fields, all families will have their fees credited to their SquadFusion accounts for future use. This credit can be used for any future D1-Bound Football Academy activities.
  • Additionally, there will be NO make-ups, pro-rated reimbursements or similar credit for days missed.
